THE HOUSE

“Between Paris and N’Djamena, we built what this market was missing: a straight, documented line from the acacia tree to your plant.”

— Mahamat Younous Abdel Salam, founder

MAMO International was founded on a simple observation: industry worldwide needs Chadian gum arabic, and Chad’s producers need a reliable route to that industry. We are that route — commercial and documentary rigor in Paris, collection, sorting and control on the ground in N’Djamena.

OUR PILLARS

Four commitments. Each one with its proof.

01

Traceability

Every lot is documented from the collection zone to the port of loading. You know where your gum grew, who collected it, and when.

PROOF — Certificate of origin · GPS-mapped zones · lot photos · pre-shipment inspection · EUDR-ready documentation

Read the pillar →

02

Quality

Hand-sorted nodules, controlled at origin and analysed by independent laboratories before shipment. No lot leaves without its file.

PROOF — SGS-type analyses per lot: moisture, ash, acid-insoluble matter, optical rotation, microbiology

03

Competitiveness

A direct line to producer groups removes the layers of intermediaries that inflate prices. The savings are structural, not promotional. In a market at historic price levels, a shorter chain is the only honest discount.

PROOF — Direct producer mandate · FOB Douala / CIF major ports worldwide

04

Commitment

Gum collection is a lifeline for Sahelian households. We buy directly from producer groups at committed prices — a supply chain people can rely on, on both ends.

PROOF — Direct purchasing · 500,000+ households live from gum collection in Chad

SPECIFICATIONS & FOOD SAFETY

We supply to the E414 specification. Every lot proves it.

Food-grade gum arabic is additive E414. Its purity criteria are set by EU Regulation 231/2012. We commit to these limits and ship a certificate of analysis with every lot. For shipments to the United States, the same lots align with the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) monograph for gum arabic; gum arabic is GRAS-affirmed under the FDA, and FSVP import documentation is provided on request.

DOCUMENTATION PER LOT

Independent laboratory certificate of analysis, certificate of origin, and lot photographs travel with every container.

CONTROL AT ORIGIN

Hand-sorting and grading in N’Djamena under an HACCP-based control plan, with sealed sampling before shipment.

Certification roadmap — what we hold and what is next

NOW — Certificate of analysis per lot (EU Reg. 231/2012) · certificate of origin · HACCP-based sorting

2026–2027 — Kosher, Halal and Fair for Life certification under study · buyer audits welcomed on site

2027 — Organic certification study (wild-harvest collection zones)

We publish only what we can prove today, and the trajectory we are committed to. We claim no certification we do not hold.

WHERE OUR GUM ENDS UP

We sell raw gum. We understand finished products.

Gum arabic (E414) is in daily life everywhere — a soft drink, a glass of wine, a cereal bar, a tablet coating. Knowing your applications means grading, sorting and documenting our lots the way your production actually needs them.

SUPPLY SECURITY

Origin diversification is no longer optional.

70–80%

of world supply historically came from Sudan, now disrupted by conflict. Buyers face both scarcity and ethical-sourcing risk.

×1.7

export prices from about $1,800 to $3,000/t since 2022; import averages worldwide near $5,280/t in 2025. Structural, not cyclical.

$1.5bn

projected world market by 2034, about double 2025 — driven by clean label, natural emulsifiers and prebiotic fibre.

Chad is the world’s second producer. MAMO International exists to make that origin as documented and dependable as the one the market is losing.

Gum arabic exuding on an acacia branch TAPPED · NOT CUT
Acacia in the Sahel — tapped, never cut

ACACIA, THE SAHEL’S QUIET ENGINEER

A harvest that heals the land it comes from.

Gum is tapped, not taken: a shallow incision on trunk and branches triggers natural exudation; nodules dry in the open air and are hand-collected weeks later. The tree is unharmed and produces for decades.

Acacia trees hold back the desert — they fix soils, restore fertility and shelter the Sahel’s agro-pastoral balance. Every tonne bought is an incentive to keep them standing, in the very corridor of Africa’s Great Green Wall.

Harvest runs from November to March, in GPS-identified zones across Ouaddaï, Salamat and Chari-Baguirmi.

IMPACT

More than 500,000 Chadian households live from gum collection. Buying directly, at committed prices, keeps value where the trees grow — and keeps the chain steady, at both ends.
